English meaning
One should contemplate the five-part Sāman in the worlds: earth is hiṅkāra, fire prastāva, the intermediate space udgītha, the sun pratihāra, and heaven nidhana. This is the ascending order.
Explanation
Hiṅkāra through nidhana are the five chant portions. Nidhana here denotes the conclusion of the chant, not death in its ordinary sense.
Context
The five portions of the Sāman are correlated with ascending and descending orders of worlds. These are contemplative correspondences rather than a geographical map.
