पुरुषो वाव गौतमाग्निस्तस्य वागेव समित्प्राणो धूमो जिह्वार्चिश्चक्षुरङ्गाराः श्रोत्रं विस्फुलिङ्गाः ॥ १ ॥

English meaning
Gautama, a man is a fire. Its fuel is speech; its smoke, breath; its flame, the tongue; its embers, the eye; and its sparks, hearing.
व्याख्या
वाणी ईंधन, प्राण धुआँ और जीभ ज्वाला है। भोजन से जनन-सामर्थ्य का सम्बन्ध इस प्राचीन प्रतीक में आता है; यह पूर्ण जैविक प्रक्रिया का वर्णन नहीं।
