यो ह वै प्रतिष्ठां वेद प्रति ह तिष्ठत्यस्मिँश्च लोकेऽमुष्मिँश्च चक्षुर्वाव प्रतिष्ठा ॥ ३ ॥

हिन्दी अर्थ
जो प्रतिष्ठा को जानता है, वह इस लोक और उस लोक, दोनों में स्थिर आधार पाता है। आँख ही प्रतिष्ठा है।
English meaning
One who knows the foundation stands firmly both in this world and in the other world. The eye is the foundation.
व्याख्या
प्रतिष्ठा और प्रति तिष्ठति में शब्द-साम्य है: आधार को जानने वाला प्रतिष्ठित होता है। यह आँख की उपासना-सापेक्ष महत्ता बताता है, दृष्टिहीन व्यक्ति के मूल्य का निर्णय नहीं।
Explanation
Pratiṣṭhā and prati tiṣṭhati echo one another: knowing the support brings firm standing. The claim concerns a contemplative function of sight, not the worth of a person without sight.
