Passage 38.1
English meaning
That sun is the honey of the gods. Heaven is its crossbeam, the intervening space its honeycomb, and the rays its offspring.
Explanation
Apūpa can denote a cake or rounded mass; here it supplies the image of a hanging honeycomb. Heaven supports it, and the rays are its offspring. These are contemplative correspondences rather than a physical description of solar matter.
Context
The honey teaching begins by relating the sun, the cosmos and Vedic knowledge through a honey image.
