English meaning
Now, in relation to oneself: speech is the ṛc, and breath is the Sāman. This Sāman rests upon that ṛc; therefore a Sāman is sung resting upon a ṛc. Speech is “sā” and breath is “ama”; together they are “sāma.”
Explanation
The inward perspective supplies a counterpart to the outer correspondences. Speech and breath naturally form a pair in speaking and singing, but the ordering here is not a causal diagram from respiratory science. It places sacred verse and its chant within the practitioner’s embodied experience.
Context
After earth, celestial regions and the sun, the same ṛc–Sāman relation is contemplated within the person as speech and breath.
