अथ तत ऊर्ध्व उदेत्य नैवोदेता नास्तमेतैकल एव मध्ये स्थाता तदेष श्लोकः ॥ १ ॥

अथ ततः ऊर्ध्वः उदेत्य [आदित्यः] न एव उदेता, न अस्तमेता; एकलः एव मध्ये स्थाता । तत् एषः श्लोकः [अस्ति] ।
हिन्दी अर्थ
इसके बाद ऊपर उदित होकर वह न फिर उदित होगा, न अस्त होगा; वह अकेला ही बीच में स्थित रहेगा। इस विषय में यह श्लोक है।
English meaning
Then, having risen upward, it will neither rise nor set; it will stand alone in the middle. On this there is the following verse.
व्याख्या
सूर्य का बीच में अकेला स्थिर रहना बदलते देवकालों से आगे की पूर्णता का संकेत है। पाठ इसे खगोलीय प्रतिदिन की स्थिति नहीं कह रहा। अगला मन्त्र इस समाप्ति को सत्य की प्रतिज्ञा से जोड़ता है।
Explanation
The sun’s solitary stability in the middle marks a completion beyond the changing divine periods. It is not presented as an ordinary daily astronomical condition. The next verse connects this culmination with an appeal to truth.
