There is a receptacle whose belly is the intervening space and whose base is earth, and it does not decay. The directions are its corners and heaven its upper opening. This receptacle is a store of wealth; the entire world rests in it.
Explanation
The kośa is not merely an ordinary chest but a cosmic vessel made of earth, intervening space, directions and heaven. Vasudhāna denotes a holder of wealth or treasures. The distinct images of base, belly, corners and upper opening have been preserved.
Context
