स यदि पितृलोककामो भवति सङ्कल्पादेवास्य पितरः समुत्तिष्ठन्ति तेन पितृलोकेन सम्पन्नो महीयते ॥ १ ॥

सः यदि पितृलोककामः भवति, अस्य पितरः सङ्कल्पात् एव समुत्तिष्ठन्ति; तेन पितृलोकेन सम्पन्नः महीयते ।
हिन्दी अर्थ
यदि वह पितृलोक की कामना करता है, तो केवल उसके संकल्प से उसके पितरों का समूह उपस्थित हो जाता है। उस पितृलोक से संयुक्त होकर वह गौरव और परिपूर्णता का अनुभव करता है।
English meaning
If he desires the world of fathers and ancestors, his fathers and ancestors arise for him through intention alone. United with that world, he is exalted in its fulfillment.
व्याख्या
पितृ बहुवचन पूर्वजों को भी सूचित कर सकता है; इसे केवल जीवित पिता तक सीमित नहीं किया गया। यह आत्मज्ञान के फल का धार्मिक वर्णन है।
Explanation
The plural pitaraḥ can include ancestors; it is not restricted to one living father. This is a religious account of the fruit of self-knowledge.
