अथ यां चतुर्थीं जुहुयात्तां जुहुयात्समानाय स्वाहेति समानस्तृप्यति ॥ १ ॥

अन्वय
अथ [सः] याम् चतुर्थीम् [आहुतिम्] जुहुयात्, ताम् समानाय स्वाहा इति जुहुयात् । समानः तृप्यति ।
हिन्दी अर्थ
फिर जो चौथी आहुति दे, उसे “समान के लिए स्वाहा” कहकर दे। इससे समान तृप्त होता है।
English meaning
Then the fourth offering should be made with “Svāhā to samāna.” Samāna is thereby satisfied.
व्याख्या
समान पाँच नामित प्राण-वृत्तियों में एक है। इस पद में केवल आहुति और उसकी तृप्ति है; अगले पद में उससे जुड़ी इन्द्रिय और विश्व-तत्त्वों का विस्तार आएगा।
Explanation
Samāna is one of five named vital functions. This unit gives the offering and its satisfaction; the next unfolds the associated faculty and cosmic powers.
