प्रातः-अनुवाक के आरम्भ से पहले वह गार्हपत्य अग्नि के पीछे, उत्तर की ओर मुख करके बैठता है और वसुओं का साम गाता है।
English meaning
Before the morning recitation begins, he sits behind the Gārhapatya fire, facing north, and sings the Sāman of the Vasus.
व्याख्या
जघनेन अग्नि के पीछे का स्थान बताता है; उत्तरमुख बैठना अलग दिशा-निर्देश है। वासवम् वसुओं से सम्बन्धित है, इन्द्र के वासव उपनाम से इसे न बदलें।
Explanation
Jaghanena specifies a position behind the fire; facing north is a separate orientation. Vāsavam here means belonging to the Vasus, not Indra despite his epithet Vāsava.
