अथ खल्वाशीःसमृद्धिरुपसरणानीत्युपासीत येन साम्ना स्तोष्यन्स्यात्तत्सामोपधावेत् ॥ ८ ॥

हिन्दी अर्थ
अब अभिलाषा की सिद्धि का विवेचन है। जिन आधारों का आश्रय लेना है, उनका इस प्रकार ध्यान करे: जिस साम से स्तुति करने वाला हो, उसी साम को मन से सामने लाए।
English meaning
Now follows the fulfilment of an aspiration. One should contemplate the points of approach in this way: bring to mind the particular Sāman with which one intends to sing praise.
व्याख्या
उपधावेत् का शाब्दिक भाव समीप जाना है, पर यहाँ उसका आशय मानसिक रूप से विषय का आश्रय लेकर विचार करना है। आशीःसमृद्धिः अभिलाषा के सफल होने की भूमिका बताती है। अगले अनुच्छेद उसी तैयारी के अन्य घटक जोड़ेंगे।
Explanation
Upadhāvet literally suggests approaching, but here it concerns mentally attending to the chosen object. Āśīḥsamṛddhiḥ introduces the fulfilment of an aspiration. The following passages supply further components of that preparation.
