येन च्छन्दसा स्तोष्यन्स्यात्तच्छन्द उपधावेद्येन स्तोमेन स्तोष्यमाणः स्यात्तꣳ स्तोममुपधावेत् ॥ १० ॥

हिन्दी अर्थ
जिस छन्द से स्तुति करनी हो, उस छन्द को मन से सामने लाए। जिस स्तोम से स्तुति करने वाला हो, उस स्तोम को मन से सामने लाए।
English meaning
Bring to mind the metre in which one intends to sing praise, and the stoma arrangement with which one intends to perform it.
व्याख्या
छन्द पद्य का मात्रिक या वर्णिक विन्यास है। स्तोम साम-स्तुति के सुव्यवस्थित संयोजन और आवृत्ति से जुड़ा अनुष्ठानिक पद है; उसे केवल छन्द का पर्याय कहने से दो अलग पक्ष मिट जाएँगे। पाठ दोनों पर अलग ध्यान चाहता है।
Explanation
