तस्मिन्यवात्संपातमुषित्वाथैतमेवाध्वानं पुनर्निवर्तन्ते यथेतमाकाशमाकाशाद्वायुं वायुर्भूत्वा धूमो भवति धूमो भूत्वाभ्रं भवति ॥ ५ ॥

वहाँ अपने रहने की अवधि पूरी होने तक रहकर वे उसी मार्ग से लौटते हैं जिससे गए थे: आकाश में, और आकाश से वायु में। वायु होकर धुआँ बनते हैं; धुआँ होकर अभ्र, अर्थात् बादल, बनते हैं।
English meaning
After remaining there for the duration of their allotted stay, they return along the same route by which they went: to space, and from space to wind. Becoming wind, they become smoke; becoming smoke, they become cloud.

Explanation
The selected reading yavātsaṃpātam is difficult; it is generally understood as remaining for the duration of the available result of action. The translation conveys duration without silently replacing the reading by yāvat saṃpātam.
