तद्यदृक्तो रिष्येद्भूः स्वाहेति गार्हपत्ये जुहुयादृचामेव तद्रसेनर्चां वीर्येणर्चां यज्ञस्य विरिष्टꣳ सन्दधाति ॥ ४ ॥

तत् यत् [यज्ञः] ऋक्तः रिष्येत्, भूः स्वाहा इति गार्हपत्ये जुहुयात् । तत् ऋचाम् एव रसेन, ऋचाम् वीर्येण, ऋचाम् यज्ञस्य विरिष्टम् सन्दधाति ।
हिन्दी अर्थ
यदि यज्ञ में ऋचाओं की ओर से कोई क्षति हो, तो “भूः स्वाहा” कहकर गार्हपत्य अग्नि में आहुति दे। इस तरह ऋचाओं के ही रस से, ऋचाओं के वीर्य से, ऋचाओं से सम्बन्धित यज्ञ की क्षति को जोड़ता है।
English meaning
If the sacrifice is damaged on the side of the ṛc verses, one should offer into the Gārhapatya fire with “Bhūḥ, svāhā.” In this way, with the essence of the verses, with their potency, one repairs the damage to the sacrifice in its verse-related part.
व्याख्या
रिष्येत् और विरिष्टम् यज्ञ की क्षति या टूटन को कहते हैं। सन्दधाति फिर से जोड़ना है। व्याहृति, वेद-भाग और अग्नि का निर्धारित सम्बन्ध इस उपचार का आधार है।
Explanation
Riṣyet and viriṣṭam indicate damage or a breach in the rite; saṃdadhāti means joining it back together. The specified relationship among utterance, Vedic component and fire grounds the remedy.
