तत्रोद्गातॄनास्तावे स्तोष्यमाणानुपोपविवेश स ह प्रस्तोतारमुवाच ॥ ८ ॥

हिन्दी अर्थ
वहाँ वे गायन-स्थान में स्तुति आरम्भ करने वाले उद्गाता-समूह के पास बैठ गए। फिर उन्होंने प्रस्तोता से कहा।
English meaning
There he sat down near the chanting priests, who were about to sing in the chanting area. He then addressed the prastotṛ.
व्याख्या
यहाँ बहुवचन उद्गातॄन् गायन करने वाले ऋत्विज्-समूह को समेटता है; आगे प्रस्तोता, उद्गाता और प्रतिहर्ता अलग-अलग आएँगे। आस्ताव वह स्थान है जहाँ स्तोत्र का गायन होता है। यह अनुच्छेद केवल संवाद की भूमिका है; उषस्ति का कथन अगले अनुच्छेद में शुरू होता है।
Explanation
The plural udgātṝn here encompasses the chanting priests; the prastotṛ, udgātṛ and pratihartṛ will subsequently be addressed separately. Āstāva is the place for the chant. This passage sets up the exchange, with Uṣasti’s actual words beginning in the next one.

उषस्ति अब यज्ञ में पहुँच चुके हैं। गायन आरम्भ होने के ठीक पहले वे उसके पहले भाग के गायक से बात करते हैं।
Context
Uṣasti has now reached the sacrifice. Just before the singing begins, he addresses the singer responsible for its opening portion.
