आपयिता ह वै कामानां भवति य एतदेवं विद्वानक्षरमुद्गीथमुपास्ते ॥ ७ ॥

यः एतत् एवम् विद्वान् अक्षरम् उद्गीथम् उपास्ते, [सः] कामानाम् आपयिता ह वै भवति ।
हिन्दी अर्थ
जो इस प्रकार जानकर इस अक्षर को उद्गीथ मानकर उपासता है, वह इच्छाओं को पूर्ण करने वाला होता है।
English meaning
One who understands this and contemplates the syllable as the udgītha becomes a fulfiller of desires.
व्याख्या
एवं विद्वान् में बल उस समझ पर है जो पिछले अनुच्छेदों में बनी: वाणी, प्राण, ऋक् और साम का सम्बन्ध। केवल ओम् की ध्वनि दोहराने से हर इच्छा पूरी होगी, ऐसा स्वतंत्र व्यावहारिक दावा यहाँ से निकालना उचित नहीं। यह पाठ के उपासना-प्रशंसा और फल-वचन का अंश है।
Explanation
Evaṃ vidvān stresses the understanding developed in the preceding passages: the relationship among speech, breath, verse and song. The sentence belongs to the text’s praise of contemplation and declaration of its fruit; it should not be recast as practical proof that repeating OM guarantees every desired outcome.
