अथ यदि महज्जिगमिषेदमावास्यायां दीक्षित्वा पौर्णमास्याँ रात्रौ सर्वौषधस्य मन्थं दधिमधुनोरुपमथ्य ज्येष्ठाय श्रेष्ठाय स्वाहेत्यग्नावाज्यस्य हुत्वा मन्थे सम्पातमवनयेत् ॥ ४ ॥

हिन्दी अर्थ
अब यदि कोई महानता प्राप्त करना चाहे, तो अमावस्या को दीक्षा लेकर पूर्णिमा की रात सभी प्रकार की औषधियों अथवा अनाज का मन्थ दही और मधु में मिलाए। “ज्येष्ठ और श्रेष्ठ के लिए स्वाहा” कहकर अग्नि में घृत की आहुति दे और आहुति के बाद बचा हुआ अंश मन्थ में डाल दे।
English meaning
If someone wishes to attain greatness, they should undertake consecration at the new moon and, on the night of the full moon, stir a mixture of all kinds of plants or grains into curd and honey. Having offered ghee into the fire with “Svāhā to the eldest and the best,” they should pour the remaining portion from the offering into the mixture.
व्याख्या
मन्थ मथा हुआ खाद्य मिश्रण है; सम्पात आहुति-पात्र से मन्थ में डाला जाने वाला शेष अंश समझा गया है। तिथियाँ, दही, मधु, घृत और दोनों उपाधियाँ अलग-अलग रखी गई हैं। यह अनुष्ठान-वर्णन है, आज इसे करने की सलाह नहीं।
Explanation
Mantha is a stirred food preparation; sampāta is understood as the remnant poured from the offering vessel into it. The lunar dates, curd, honey, ghee and paired titles remain distinct. This describes a rite rather than recommending its present-day performance.
