English meaning
The person seen within the eye is the ṛc, the Sāman, the uktha, the yajus and brahman, sacred Vedic utterance. His form is the very form of the figure in the sun. The two joints of that figure are his joints, and that figure’s name is his name.
Explanation
Uktha names a laudatory recitation. Alongside ṛc, Sāman and yajus, brahman here most immediately denotes sacred Vedic utterance or knowledge, as the ancient commentary also explains. The form recalls the golden figure of section 1.6, the two joints are ṛc and Sāman, and the name is Ut. The passage joins inward and outward contemplations rather than making an ordinary reflection physically identical to the sun.
Context
After the color-correspondence between sun and eye, the figures within them are identified through shared form, members and name.
