Passage 49.6
English meaning
Such is his greatness, yet the Puruṣa is greater still. All beings are one quarter of him; three quarters of him are immortal in heaven.
Explanation
Puruṣa here is not merely an ordinary individual human. The one-to-three relation points to a reality exceeding the totality of manifested beings rather than measuring a physical body. The source’s Vedic form pūruṣaḥ is retained in the word analysis.
Context
The quoted verse places the manifested beings in one quarter and immortal transcendence in three.
