English meaning
“Śvetaketu, my dear, since you are so proud, so convinced of your learning, and so stiff, did you also ask for that instruction through which what has not been heard becomes heard, what has not been considered becomes considered, and what has not been known becomes known?” He asked, “Sir, what sort of instruction is that?”
Explanation
Hearing, consideration, and knowing form three distinct pairs. Ādeśa here is guiding instruction rather than merely a command. The material examples that follow explain the proposed movement from one basis to many forms.
Context
The father asks about the basis of understanding rather than the quantity of learning.
