अथ यत्तपो दानमार्जवमहिꣳसा सत्यवचनमिति ता अस्य दक्षिणाः ॥ ४ ॥

उसका तप, दान, सरलता, अहिंसा और सत्य बोलना, ये उसकी दक्षिणाएँ हैं।
English meaning
Austerity, giving, uprightness, non-harming and speaking truth are the fees or gifts of that sacrifice.
व्याख्या
पाँच गुण अलग-अलग हैं: तप अनुशासन, दान देना, आर्जव मन-वचन-कर्म की सरलता, अहिंसा हानि न करना और सत्यवचन सच बोलना। दक्षिणा का रूपक इन आचरणों को यज्ञ की पूर्णता से जोड़ता है, केवल धन देने तक नहीं सीमित करता।
Explanation
The five qualities remain distinct: disciplined austerity, giving, uprightness, non-harming and truthful speech. Calling them sacrificial fees links ethical practice with the sacrifice’s completion rather than limiting its value to monetary gifts.
