अमृतत्वं देवेभ्य आगायानीत्यागायेत्स्वधां पितृभ्य आशां मनुष्येभ्यस्तृणोदकं पशुभ्यः स्वर्गं लोकं यजमानायान्नमात्मन आगायानीत्येतानि मनसा ध्यायन्नप्रमत्तः स्तुवीत ॥ २ ॥

हिन्दी अर्थ
“मैं देवताओं के लिए अमृतत्व गाऊँ, पितरों के लिए स्वधा, मनुष्यों के लिए आशाओं की पूर्ति, पशुओं के लिए घास और जल, यजमान के लिए स्वर्गलोक और अपने लिए अन्न गाऊँ” ऐसा संकल्प करके गाए। इन सबका मन में ध्यान करता हुआ वह सावधानी से स्तुति करे।
English meaning
He should sing with the intention, “May I sing immortality for the gods, ancestral nourishment for the ancestors, fulfilment of hopes for human beings, grass and water for animals, heaven for the sacrificer, and food for myself.” Holding these purposes in mind, he should chant attentively.
व्याख्या
स्वधा पितरों की पोषणकारी अर्पण-शक्ति है। आशाम् का अनुवाद आशाओं की पूर्ति है, केवल आशावादी भाव नहीं; अप्रमत्तः शुद्ध और सजग गायन पर बल देता है।
Explanation
