तेजसः सोम्याश्यमानस्य योऽणिमा स ऊर्ध्वः समुदीषति सा वाग्भवति ॥ ४ ॥

सोम्य, अश्यमानस्य तेजसः यः अणिमा [अस्ति], सः ऊर्ध्वः समुदीषति; सा वाक् भवति ।
हिन्दी अर्थ
“प्रिय, ग्रहण किए जा रहे तेज का जो सूक्ष्म सार है, वह ऊपर उठता है और वाणी बन जाता है।”
English meaning
“My dear, the subtle essence of heat being taken in rises upward and becomes speech.”
व्याख्या
वाक् स्त्रीलिंग होने से अन्त में सा आता है। वाणी के तेजमय होने का कथन पहले के त्रिवृत्करण और ग्रहण किए तेज की व्याख्या में पढ़ा जाना चाहिए, ध्वनि का आधुनिक भौतिक सिद्धान्त मानकर नहीं।
Explanation
The final sā follows the feminine noun vāc. Speech’s fiery constitution belongs to the preceding threefold account and fiery intake, rather than to a modern physical theory of sound.
