English meaning
Speech draws out for him its yield, whatever speech has to yield. He possesses food and is an eater of food who knows this hidden teaching of the Sāmans in this way, who knows this hidden teaching.
Explanation
The milking metaphor presents speech as something yielding nourishment or benefit; no literal milking procedure is being described. Annavān distinguishes possessing food from annāda, being its eater. Upaniṣad here denotes the hidden teaching of contemplative connections within the Sāmans. The statement praises that ritual contemplation; it is not a modern guarantee that reading the passage will produce food or money.
Context
At the end of the teaching about stobha sounds, the text states its benefit for the knower. The repeated closing phrase also concludes the first adhyāya.
