English meaning
You eat food and see what is dear. Whoever contemplates this Vaiśvānara self in this way eats food, sees what is dear, and has the radiance of sacred learning in the family. The king said, “But this is only the self’s trunk. Had you not come to me, your trunk would have disintegrated.”
Explanation
Sandeha here means the compact body or trunk, not doubt. The breadth of space is associated with this bodily mass. This belongs to a historical teaching narrative, not a present-day threat of bodily injury.
Context
While acknowledging the benefit of contemplating space, the king identifies it as one part of the complete Vaiśvānara.
