English meaning
You eat food and see what is dear. Whoever contemplates this Vaiśvānara self in this way eats food, sees what is dear, and has the radiance of sacred learning in the family. The king said, “But this is only the self’s head. Had you not come to me, your head would have fallen.”
Explanation
The threatened fall of the head is a narrative warning about incomplete knowledge, not a medical prediction. This belongs to a historical teaching narrative, not a present-day threat of bodily injury.
Context
While acknowledging the benefit of contemplating heaven, the king identifies it as one part of the complete Vaiśvānara.
