English meaning
On this there is a verse: “The seer sees no death, no illness, nor a state of suffering. The seer sees everything and attains everything in every way.” He becomes onefold, threefold, fivefold, sevenfold and ninefold; again he is remembered as eleven, and a hundred, ten, one, and twenty thousand. When intake is pure, the inner being becomes pure; when the inner being is pure, remembrance becomes steady; when that remembrance is attained, all knots are completely released. To Nārada, whose inner stains had been worn away, the revered Sanatkumāra shows the farther shore of darkness. They call him Skanda; they call him Skanda.
Explanation
The vision that does not see death or disease praises liberating understanding; it is not a medical promise of bodily immunity. The grouping of the number sequence is uncertain, so its terms remain in their transmitted order. The documented, witness-supported restoration sattvaśuddhiḥ preserves two stages: pure intake leads to inner purity, and inner purity to steady remembrance. Āhāra can mean food and, in broader interpretation, what is taken in through experience; sattva is understood here as the inner being. Release of all knots upon attaining remembrance is the text’s spiritual teaching, not a modern clinical rule. The closing name Skanda refers to Sanatkumāra; its repetition is preserved.
Context
The chapter closes by bringing together the seer’s vision, numerical multiplicity, steady remembrance and Nārada’s passage beyond darkness.
