न हाप्सु प्रैत्यप्सुमान्भवति य एतदेवं विद्वान्सर्वास्वप्सु पञ्चविधꣳसामोपास्ते ॥ २ ॥

अन्वय
यः एतत् एवम् विद्वान् सर्वासु अप्सु पञ्चविधम् साम उपास्ते, [सः] अप्सु ह न प्रैति; अप्सुमान् भवति ।
हिन्दी अर्थ
जो इसे इस प्रकार जानकर सभी जलों में पाँच अंगों वाले साम की उपासना करता है, वह जल में मृत्यु को प्राप्त नहीं होता और जल-सम्पन्न होता है।
English meaning
One who knows this and contemplates the five-part Sāman in all waters does not die in water and becomes well supplied with water.
व्याख्या
प्रैति यहाँ मृत्यु को प्राप्त होने के अर्थ में लिया गया है। यह पारम्परिक फलश्रुति है, जल में जोखिम उठाने की सुरक्षा-गारंटी नहीं।
Explanation
Praiti is understood here as dying. This traditional statement of benefit is not a guarantee of safety or a reason to take risks in water.
