दूरेण ह्यवरं कर्म बुद्धियोगाद्धनंजय । बुद्धौ शरणमन्विच्छ कृपणाः फलहेतवः ॥२-४९॥

अन्वय
धनञ्जय, कर्म बुद्धियोगात् दूरेण हि अवरम् [अस्ति] । बुद्धौ शरणम् अन्विच्छ । फलहेतवः कृपणाः [सन्ति] ।

धनञ्जय, फल की चाह वाला कर्म बुद्धियोग से बहुत नीचे है। विवेकपूर्ण बुद्धि की शरण लो; केवल फल को कारण बनाने वाले दीन हैं।
English meaning
Dhananjaya, action driven by its reward is far inferior to the yoga of understanding. Seek refuge in discernment; those whose sole motive is the result live narrowly.
