कतम आत्मेति योऽयं विज्ञानमयः प्राणेषु हृद्यन्तर्ज्योतिः पुरुषः । स समानः सन्नुभौ लोकावनुसंचरति ध्यायतीव लेलायतीव । स हि स्वप्नो भूत्वेमं लोकमतिक्रामति अद्द्. मृत्यो रूपाणि ॥ ७ ॥

जनक ने पूछा: कौन-सा आत्मा? उत्तर था: प्राणों के बीच स्थित, विज्ञानमय, हृदय के भीतर ज्योति वाला पुरुष। वही एक-सा रहते हुए दोनों लोकों में चलता है, मानो ध्यान करता और मानो गति करता है। स्वप्न में जाकर वह इस लोक को, मृत्यु के रूपों को, पार करता है।
English meaning
“Which Self?” “The person formed of awareness among the vital powers, the inner light in the heart. Remaining the same, it moves through both worlds, as though thinking and as though stirring. Entering dream, it passes beyond this world, beyond the forms of death.”

Explanation
