English meaning
That was indeed this very reality: truth itself. Whoever knows this great, first-born numinous being as “Truth is Brahman” wins these worlds. And that other one [an opponent] will indeed be overcome when the knower recognizes this great, first-born numinous being as “Truth is Brahman.” For truth is indeed Brahman.
Explanation
Yaksa here points to a venerable, wondrous presence, not simply a species of being in later mythology. Winning worlds and overcoming another are ancient expressions of the power attributed to knowledge. The identification of “that other one” as an opponent is contextual and is marked in the translation.
Context
Following the heart contemplation, this passage names truth as Brahman. The next brahmana develops the origin and syllabic structure of truth.
