सा चेदस्मै दद्यादिन्द्रियेण ते यशसा यश आदधामीति । यशस्विनावेव भवतः ॥ ८ ॥

सा चेत् अस्मै दद्यात्, ते यशः इन्द्रियेण यशसा आदधामि इति [वदेत्] । [तौ] यशस्विनौ एव भवतः ।
हिन्दी अर्थ
यदि वह स्त्री उसे अनुमति दे, तो पाठ यह वचन देता है: “अपनी शक्ति और यश के द्वारा मैं तुम्हारे भीतर यश रखता हूँ।” पाठ के अनुसार तब दोनों यशस्वी होते हैं।
English meaning
If the woman grants him access, the text supplies the words: “By my vigor and renown I place renown in you.” According to the text, both then become renowned.
व्याख्या
आददे, छीनता हूँ, के सामने आदधामि, रखता हूँ, रखा गया है। यह यश के अनुष्ठानिक विनिमय की कल्पना है; पिछले हिंसक विकल्प को इससे उचित नहीं ठहराया जा सकता।
Explanation
Adadhami, “I place,” contrasts with adade, “I take away.” This imagines a ritual exchange of renown; it does not justify the violent alternative in the preceding passage.
