हिरण्मयी अरणी याभ्यां निर्मन्थतामश्विनौ । तं ते गर्भं हवामहे दशमे मासि सूतये । यथाग्निगर्भा पृथिवी यथा द्यौरैन्द्रेण गर्भिणी । वायुर्दिशां यथा गर्भ एवं गर्भं दधामि तेऽसाविति ॥ २२ ॥

“वे दो स्वर्णमयी अरणियाँ हैं जिनसे अश्विन मन्थन करें। हम तुम्हारे लिए उस गर्भ का आह्वान करते हैं जो दसवें महीने में जन्मे। जैसे पृथिवी अग्नि को गर्भ में रखती है, जैसे आकाश इन्द्र से सम्बद्ध [तेज] से गर्भवती है, और जैसे वायु दिशाओं का गर्भ है, वैसे ही, अमुक, मैं तुम्हारे भीतर गर्भ स्थापित करता हूँ।”
English meaning
“There are the two golden fire-sticks with which the Ashvins are to churn. We call forth that pregnancy for you, for birth in the tenth month. As earth carries fire within, as heaven is pregnant with what belongs to Indra, and as wind is the embryo of the directions, so, named woman, I place a pregnancy in you.”

पृथिवी-अग्नि, आकाश-ऐन्द्र और दिशाएँ-वायु तीन उपमान हैं। दसवाँ महीना प्राचीन गर्भावधि-गणना का कथन है, वर्तमान प्रसूति-समय का परामर्श नहीं।
Explanation
Earth/fire, heaven/what belongs to Indra, and directions/wind are the three comparisons. The tenth month belongs to ancient reckoning of gestation, not present-day obstetric advice.
