एष उ एव ब्रह्मणस्पतिः । वाग्वै ब्रह्म । तस्या एष पतिस्तस्मादु ब्रह्मणस्पतिः ॥ २१ ॥

हिन्दी अर्थ
यही ब्रह्मणस्पति है। वाणी ब्रह्म है और यह उसका पति है; इसलिए ब्रह्मणस्पति कहलाता है।
English meaning
This is Brahmanaspati. Speech is brahman, the sacred utterance, and this is its lord; hence Brahmanaspati.
व्याख्या
ब्रह्म शब्द यहाँ मन्त्र या पवित्र वचन के अर्थ को सामने लाता है। उपनिषद् में इसी शब्द का अन्य स्थानों पर परम तत्त्व का अर्थ भी है, पर हर प्रयोग को एक ही अर्थ में सीमित करने से इस अनुच्छेद का वाणी-सम्बन्ध खो जाता है।
Explanation
Brahman here foregrounds sacred speech or a ritual utterance. Elsewhere the Upanishad uses the same word for ultimate reality, but forcing that sense into every occurrence would obscure this passage’s specific connection with speech.
