सा वै वाचमेव प्रथमामत्यवहत् । सा यदा मृत्युमत्यमुच्यत सोऽग्निरभवत् । सोऽयमग्निः परेण मृत्युमतिक्रान्तो दीप्यते ॥ १२ ॥

हिन्दी अर्थ
उसने सबसे पहले वाणी को पार पहुँचाया। जब वाणी मृत्यु से मुक्त हुई, वह अग्नि हुई। यह अग्नि मृत्यु को पार करके उसके परे दीप्त होती है।
English meaning
It carried speech across first. When speech was released from death, it became fire. This fire shines beyond death, having passed beyond it.
व्याख्या
वाणी और अग्नि का सम्बन्ध वैदिक शरीर-विश्व समानताओं में आता है। यहाँ बात साधारण ध्वनि के सचमुच आग बन जाने की नहीं, उस शक्ति के व्यक्तिगत सीमा से व्यापक देवतारूप में पहचाने जाने की है।
Explanation
