एष उ एव बृहस्पतिः । वाग्वै बृहती । तस्या एष पतिस्तस्मादु बृहस्पतिः ॥ २० ॥

अन्वय
एषः उ एव बृहस्पतिः [अस्ति] । वाक् वै बृहती [अस्ति] । एषः तस्याः पतिः [अस्ति]; तस्मात् उ बृहस्पतिः [अस्ति] ।
हिन्दी अर्थ
यही बृहस्पति है। वाणी बृहती है और यह उसका पति है; इसलिए बृहस्पति कहलाता है।
English meaning
This is Brihaspati. Speech is Brihati, and this is its lord; hence the name Brihaspati.
व्याख्या
बृहती एक छन्द का नाम और महान् वाणी का संकेत दोनों हो सकती है। पति यहाँ अधिष्ठाता या स्वामी है। यह वाणी के प्राण पर आश्रित होने का नामगत रूपक है, बृहस्पति ग्रह की खगोलीय व्याख्या नहीं।
Explanation
Brihati can evoke both a Vedic metre and expansive speech. Pati means its lord or presiding power. The name expresses speech’s dependence on breath, not an astronomical explanation of the planet Jupiter.
