यस्मादर्वाक्संवत्सरोऽहोभिः परिवर्तते । तद्देवा ज्योतिषां ज्योतिरायुर्होपासतेऽमृतम् ॥ १६ ॥

अन्वय
यस्मात् अर्वाक् संवत्सरः अहोभिः परिवर्तते, देवाः तत् ज्योतिषाम् ज्योतिः अमृतम् आयुः ह उपासते ।
हिन्दी अर्थ
जिसके नीचे वर्ष अपने दिनों के साथ घूमता है, उसी ज्योतियों की ज्योति को देवता अमृत आयु के रूप में उपासते हैं।
English meaning
Below which the year revolves with its days, that light of lights the gods contemplate as immortal life.
व्याख्या
अर्वाक् को अधीन या नीचे के अर्थ में लिया गया है। देवताओं की उपासना भी आत्मा को कालचक्र से व्यापक बताने का साधन है, मनुष्य की आयु बढ़ाने की विधि नहीं।
Explanation
Arvak is read as beneath or subordinate to. The gods’ contemplation places the Self beyond the time-cycle; it is not a technique for extending human lifespan.
