इयं विद्युत्सर्वेषां भूतानं मधु । अस्यै विद्युतः सर्वाणि भूतानि मधु । यश्चायमस्यां विद्युति तेजोमयोऽमृतमयः पुरुषो यश्चायमध्यात्मं तैजसस्तेजोमयोऽमृतमयः पुरुषोऽयमेव स योऽयमात्मा । इदममृतमिदं ब्रह्मेदं सर्वम् ॥ ८ ॥

यह बिजली सभी प्राणियों का मधु है और इस बिजली के लिए सभी प्राणी मधु हैं। जो इस बिजली में तेजोमय और अमृतमय पुरुष है तथा जो अपने भीतर आन्तरिक तेज के रूप में स्थित तेजोमय और अमृतमय पुरुष है, वही यह आत्मा है। यही अमृत है, यही ब्रह्म है और यही सब कुछ है।
English meaning
This lightning is honey for all beings, and all beings are honey for this lightning. The radiant, immortal person in this lightning and the radiant, immortal person within the individual as inward radiance are this very Self. This is the immortal; this is Brahman; this is everything.
व्याख्या
तैजस तेज से सम्बन्धित है, जबकि तेजोमय सभी मधु-मन्त्रों में पुरुष का सामान्य विशेषण है। अनुवाद दोनों स्तरों को रखता है और तैजस को किसी निश्चित आधुनिक तन्त्रिका या विद्युत्-प्रवाह से नहीं जोड़ता। मधु यहाँ पारस्परिक पोषण और सार का रूपक है।
Explanation
Taijasa specifies a relation to inner radiance, while tejomaya is the repeated general description of the person. Both are retained without identifying taijasa with a particular nerve or electrical current. Honey is a metaphor for reciprocal nourishment and essence.
