English meaning
Although sattva and purusha are entirely unmixed, experience arises from failing to distinguish them in cognition. Sattva serves another; samyama on what is for itself yields knowledge of purusha.
Context
From knowledge of the mind, the discussion turns to the fundamental distinction between mental sattva and purusha. The following extraordinary experiences are presented as fruits of this knowing.
Simple explanation
Sattva here refers to the lucid mind, while purusha is the seer. Experience presents them without distinction; knowledge of purusha does not mean making them one substance.
