तस्मिन्सति श्वासप्रश्वासयोर्गतिविच्छेदः प्राणायामः ।। २.४९ ।।

अन्वय
तस्मिन् [आसने] सति श्वासप्रश्वासयोः गतिविच्छेदः प्राणायामः [अस्ति] ।

उस आसन के स्थापित होने पर श्वास और प्रश्वास की गति का विच्छेद प्राणायाम है।
English meaning
With that posture established, pranayama is an interruption of the movement of inhalation and exhalation.
प्रसंग
आसन के बाद चौथे अंग प्राणायाम की परिभाषा उसी आधार के स्थापित होने की शर्त से शुरू होती है।
