English meaning
Blameless one, sattva is clear, illuminating and free from disturbance because of its purity. Yet it binds through attachment to happiness and attachment to knowledge.
Context
After naming the three qualities, Krishna first describes sattva and the way it binds.
Simple explanation
Clarity and happiness can be valuable, yet clinging to them is still bondage. A pleasant condition is not the final destination.
