Sutra 4.8
ततस्तद्विपाकानुगुणानां एवाभिव्यक्तिर्वासनानां ।। ४.८ ।।

अन्वय
ततः तत्-विपाकानुगुणानाम् एव वासनानाम् अभिव्यक्तिः [भवति] ।
हिन्दी अर्थ
उस कर्म के पकने से उन्हीं वासनाओं की अभिव्यक्ति होती है जो उसके विपाक के अनुरूप हैं।
English meaning
From that karmic fruition, only the latent tendencies corresponding to its ripening become manifest.
प्रसंग
कर्म के प्रकारों के बाद अब वासनाओं और उनके प्रकट होने का संबंध बताया है। आगे उनकी निरंतरता और आधार की चर्चा होगी।
सरल व्याख्या
एव बताता है कि सभी वासनाएँ एक साथ प्रकट नहीं होतीं। प्रकट होने का संबंध उस समय फलित कर्म की अनुकूलता से है।
