निमित्तं अप्रयोजकं प्रकृतीनां. वरणभेदस्तु ततः क्षेत्रिकवत् ।। ४.३ ।।

अन्वय
निमित्तम् प्रकृतीनाम् अप्रयोजकम् [अस्ति]; ततः तु क्षेत्रिकवत् वरणभेदः [भवति] ।
हिन्दी अर्थ
निमित्त प्रकृतियों को सीधे प्रवृत्त करने वाला नहीं है; वह केवल अवरोध हटाता है, जैसे खेत सँभालने वाला किसान।
English meaning
A facilitating condition does not directly set the natural processes in motion; it removes an obstruction, as a farmer does.
प्रसंग
पिछले सूत्र के प्रकृति-आधारित परिवर्तन में निमित्त की भूमिका स्पष्ट होती है। किसान की उपमा सहायक कारण और मूल प्रवाह में भेद करती है।
सरल व्याख्या
किसान बाधा हटाकर पहले से संभव प्रवाह को अवसर देता है। उपमा में सहायक परिस्थिति सब कुछ नए सिरे से पैदा करने वाली शक्ति नहीं है।

Simple explanation
