तासां अनादित्वं चाशिषो नित्यत्वात् ।। ४.१० ।।

अन्वय
आशिषः नित्यत्वात् तासाम् [वासनानाम्] अनादित्वम् च [अस्ति] ।
हिन्दी अर्थ
उन वासनाओं का आरंभ नहीं है, क्योंकि बने रहने की अभिलाषा निरंतर रहती है।
English meaning
These tendencies are beginningless, because the longing to continue in being is constant.
प्रसंग
वासनाओं की निरंतरता के बाद उनके अनादि होने का कारण दिया जाता है। आशिष् यहाँ अस्तित्व बनाए रखने की अभिलाषा के अर्थ में समझी गई है।
सरल व्याख्या
अनादि कहने का अर्थ इस विचार में पहला आरंभ न मिलना है। अगला सूत्र फिर भी उनके आधार हटने पर निवृत्ति की संभावना रखता है।
Context
The continuity of tendencies leads to the reason for their beginninglessness. Ashis is understood here as the longing to persist in existence.
Simple explanation
Beginningless means that no first starting point is assigned within this account. The next sutra nevertheless allows their cessation when their supporting conditions end.
