English meaning
Therefore let the teaching be your guide in deciding what is to be done and what is not. Understand the action set out by its discipline, and act here accordingly.
Context
The chapter concludes by giving a basis for discerning what should and should not be done, rather than following arbitrary impulse.
Simple explanation
Calling scripture a guide is joined with having understood: action follows understanding the teaching. The close reconnects comprehension and conduct.
