इदमद्य मया लब्धमिमं प्राप्स्ये मनोरथम् । इदमस्तीदमपि मे भविष्यति पुनर्धनम् ॥१६-१३॥

अन्वय
अद्य मया इदम् लब्धम् [अस्ति]; इमम् मनोरथम् प्राप्स्ये । इदम् अस्ति; पुनः इदम् अपि धनम् मे भविष्यति [इति ते चिन्तयन्ति] ।
हिन्दी अर्थ
वे सोचते हैं: ‘आज यह मैंने पा लिया; अगली यह इच्छा भी पूरी कर लूँगा। इतना धन मेरे पास है, और फिर यह अतिरिक्त धन भी मेरा होगा।’
English meaning
They think: ‘I gained this today, and I shall fulfill that next desire. This wealth is mine already, and still more wealth will become mine.’

आसुरी मनोवृत्ति का वर्णन अब उसके अपने मन में चलने वाली धन और उपलब्धि की वाणी में बदलता है।
सरल व्याख्या
आज पाया और आगे पाऊँगा का सिलसिला भविष्य की चाह को बढ़ाता है। कथन का स्वर समझना जरूरी है: कृष्ण इसका आदर्श नहीं दे रहे हैं।
