तँ ह कुमारँ सन्तं दक्षिणासु नीयमानासु श्रद्धाविवेश सोऽमन्यत ॥ २ ॥

English meaning
While the sacrificial gifts were being led away, earnest faith entered Nachiketas, though he was still a boy, and he began to reflect.
व्याख्या
श्रद्धा यहाँ केवल मान्यता दोहराना नहीं है; उसी से प्रश्न और विवेक उत्पन्न होते हैं। कुमारम् सन्तम् उसकी कम आयु के बावजूद गम्भीर विचार करने की क्षमता दिखाता है। कथा में उसका प्रश्न श्रद्धा का विरोध नहीं, उसी की अभिव्यक्ति बनता है।
