तमब्रवीत् प्रीयमाणो महात्मा वरं तवेहाद्य ददामि भूयः । तवैव नाम्ना भविताऽयमग्निः सृङ्कां चेमामनेकरूपां गृहाण ॥ १६ ॥

हिन्दी अर्थ
प्रसन्न महात्मा यम ने कहा: आज मैं तुम्हें एक अतिरिक्त वर देता हूँ। यह अग्नि तुम्हारे ही नाम से प्रसिद्ध होगी। यह अनेक रूपों वाली सृङ्का भी ग्रहण करो।
English meaning
The great-souled Yama, pleased, said: “Today I give you an additional boon. This fire will bear your own name. Accept also this many-formed srinka.”
व्याख्या
यह अतिरिक्त उपहार मूल तीन वरों में से तीसरा प्रश्न समाप्त नहीं करता। सृङ्का का अर्थ आभूषण या माला तथा अन्य प्रकार से समझा गया है; स्पष्ट रूप से अनिश्चित पद को यहाँ नाम के साथ रखा गया है। अग्नि का नाचिकेत नाम आगे बार-बार आएगा।
Explanation
This additional gift does not use up the remaining third question. Srinka has been interpreted as a chain, necklace, or another kind of gift; the uncertain term is retained rather than silently resolved. The name Nachiketa for the fire recurs in the following verses.

Pleased with the pupil’s understanding, Yama names the fire after Nachiketas.
