स्वर्गे लोके न भयं किंचनास्ति न तत्र त्वं न जरया बिभेति । उभे तीर्त्वाऽशनायापिपासे शोकातिगो मोदते स्वर्गलोके ॥ १२ ॥

हिन्दी अर्थ
स्वर्गलोक में कोई भय नहीं है; वहाँ आप नहीं हैं और बुढ़ापे से डर नहीं लगता। भूख और प्यास दोनों से पार होकर मनुष्य शोक से परे स्वर्गलोक में आनन्द करता है।
English meaning
“In the heavenly realm there is no fear; you are not there, and one does not dread old age. Beyond both hunger and thirst, free of sorrow, one rejoices in that heavenly realm.”
व्याख्या
त्वम् का सम्बोधन मृत्यु से है। नचिकेता अभी स्वर्ग और उसके साधन की बात कर रहा है; आगे आत्मविद्या का प्रश्न इससे अलग उठेगा। यहाँ के अमृतत्व और अगले दार्शनिक प्रसंगों की मुक्ति को बिना विवेचन एक ही अर्थ में न मिला दें।
Explanation
“You” addresses Death. Nachiketas is speaking about heaven and the means of reaching it; the question of Self-knowledge will follow separately. The freedom from death associated with this realm should not automatically be equated with every later account of liberation.
