नाविरतो दुश्चरितान्नाशान्तो नासमाहितः । नाशान्तमानसो वाऽपि प्रज्ञानेनैनमाप्नुयात् ॥ २४ ॥

दुश्चरितात् अविरतः, अशान्तः, असमाहितः, अशान्तमानसः वा अपि [जनः] प्रज्ञानेन एनम् न आप्नुयात् ।
हिन्दी अर्थ
जो दुष्कर्म से नहीं रुका, जिसकी इन्द्रियाँ शान्त नहीं, जिसका मन एकाग्र नहीं और जिसका अन्तःकरण अशान्त है, वह केवल ज्ञान के दावे से इस आत्मा को प्राप्त नहीं कर सकता।
English meaning
One who has not turned away from wrongdoing, is not calm or collected, and whose mind remains unsettled cannot attain this self merely by an intellectual claim to knowledge.
व्याख्या
मन्त्र केवल सही विचार का उच्चारण पर्याप्त नहीं मानता। अशान्तमानसः का आध्यात्मिक प्रसंग चित्त की दौड़ और आसक्ति है; इससे किसी मानसिक रोग वाले व्यक्ति को आध्यात्मिक रूप से अयोग्य नहीं ठहराना चाहिए।
